The Doof ZoneNovember 05 Remember Remember...Well....
... I must say I loved bonfire night this year. It's my first at home in 2 years, since I was in Brazil this time last year. The church here had a HUGE fire, and the fireworks were fine. The major thing was just looking round at everything... there were a hundred people there and they all got soup and hot dogs, and afterwards everything was cleaned up quickly etc.
Also, had a good time on board Oriana, which means I've worked on all three of the family-friendly ships P&O operate. Went to Italy, Spain and France again which were nice and warm, sunny... and then returned to the UK to rain and cold, and I've shivered since I got back.
I will see the rest of 2006 out now on board the Aurora, my personal favourite ship to work on. We'll be in Egypt, Cyprus, Turkey and Greece for a month, and then off to the Carribean for a 3-week cruise covering Christmas Day and New Years'. (That means ANOTHER Christmas away from home, which is gutting, but I need the money).
I've been trying to catch up with most people, and have more or less succeeded with many, but do phone me at home/mobile if we haven't chatted yet.
All the best!
Andi September 06 Dry land againSo I flew in from Gibraltar and spent 4 hours on trains until finally I got to the place my mate was getting married. Just in time. Good day too!
The summer has been the best ever. My job was brill again, and for money, and got to see the nicest places and do wicked things (canoeing in fjords of norway, eating mcdonalds in the former soviet republic, and venice, leaning tower of pisa and so on. just ask for stories)
much love all, speak soon.
andi June 05 Back to it!Hey all again!
I've managed to arrange work with P&O, and I'm off to the ARCTIC CIRCLE, BALTIC SEA and MEDITERRANEAN in about 3 weeks time!! I'll be on Aurora ship, which should be fun. Last year I was with Oceana, so I'll miss all the old mates from last year of course. Anyway, this year I'll visit 13 countries, the coolest being Russia, Norway, Estonia, Germany, Denmark, and then a bunch more in the North and of course all the West (france portugal etc).
Also, I have applied for the teaching courses! I chose to do the middle school PGCE which means I can teach in Primary OR Secondary schools... I had to pick Maths teaching as a specialism because my degree is in Economics... it's related enough! Went for Cambridge and Canterbury Christ Church, the two best, and am now waiting for that.
I'm going to visit my brother and then off down to a monastery for a few days retreat, some much needed time with a muchly-trusted old mate, Ben, and the other cool people I met down there last year. And no, they're not all monks.
So that's all fun! I'm bored in Pembs, and can't wait to bust out. I played squash today with a nearby mate, which was brilliant stuff. Won one game of the two we played.
Will be in touch through email to everyone soon with updates. In the meantime, here's some better pics of me in South America. All my love people!!
Oh, and in a moment of boredom I made a "List" on this My space today on "countries visited".

a proposito, ellos que leen en espanol, todo esto lo escibire pronto para uds. tambem pra vcs em portugues! May 27 Some news and photosJust spent the past week in Burford (near Oxford) which was wicked, with my mate Chris.
Anyway, a bunch of people asked on email for photos of the time away, so here are some. They're not great, they're the only ones on my dad's computer to be honest! Hope you enjoy, they're from around South America, some just of mates as per usual, but as many interesting ones as I could get.
Much love to you all! Other news is that "P&O Cruises" called when I wasn't here, so are going to call next week to sort out working on board in my old Youth Crew job which is brilliant. I still haven't got around to applying for teaching courses, but I will soon.
Take care, speak soon
Andi May 15 Back and confused...Back in Wales again, got the flight from Guayaquil on Friday night and arrived at near midnight Saturday. Really REALLY wierd seeing the house, but brilliant seeing the family. Wicked parents being really understanding, and cooking proper food (roast dinners!) which I haven't had since I left 7 months ago! Also, met the nephew who was born while I was gone. He's very VERY cute, growing QUICKLY (as we Davies's do... tall types as you know). Isaac.
Looking to get back on the ship, probably some time around the end of July, and also going to start applying for courses in Cardiff today. Can't wait to get moving on!
Missing you all, hoping to meet up with as many of you as I can this summer.
Much love,
Andi October 31 Preparing to goSo I've shoved a bunch of stuff into a suitcase, and think I've more or less got everything I need... I don't know who reads these blog things of mine, but I should let you know that today my stomach has definitely started realizing that I'm leaving TOMORROW not to return for 10 months. Am trying to keep it together by basically organising things, like blogs... Anywho, people who know me please do keep in touch, read my short but regular emails and reply whenever you get 2 minutes just to tell me something about your life. That's always nice to read. Much love all, Andi ps. those who pray, do so for me and the team now please! September 16 GraduationCouple of pics from the day, back in July (14th). Wasn't so fun, but really nice time. Caught up with great old friends and had the costume thing which made me feel like I'd actually done a degree. Get in touch soon if you're reading this- I'm off soon. Much love people. |
